Description
This is my entry for *Rachabelle's Uncharted Waters contest.
The contest premise was to create something new and challenging. Since this is both stylisticly and thematically very different for me and because I have never attempted to paint a landscape like this before in my life, I figure this is truly uncharted water for me!
I have uploaded an item to my Scraps:
A work in progress photo on my kitchen table.
Since I do not have a color printer, I put the photo on my PDA and painted while I looked at its wee screen.
Since I don't have a scanner big enough to scan this (11"x15") I clamped it to a chair in my backyard in the sun, set up my digital camera on a tripod across from it and took the picture with the timer. It's no scan, but the result wasn't half bad!
I learned a hell of a lot while doing this. Well, that's to be expected when trying something totally out of my element. I liked it, and I may try it again. I'm sure the results will be much better next time!
Also take a look at my digital artist friend *Boxiom's awesome first attempt at oil painting!
Thanks for looking!

i like this a lot, and ur right it doesnt look like your other works, but its well done.
watercolor is my least favorite since it's difficult and painstaking (for me) but i find its rewarding if you stick to it.
do you mostly work in ink?
